DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION: 

The Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering Technology (MMET) department in RIT’s College of Applied Science and Technology (CAST) is currently seeking applications from exceptional candidates for THREE full-time, tenure-track positions, to support the Mechanical, Manufacturing and Electrical Mechanical Engineering Technology Programs. Candidates for this position will be expected to teach and conduct focused research in any combination of areas related to mechanical, manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, bio-medical, mechatronics, energy engineering technology, and/or discipline based education research.

Responsibilities will include teaching, scholarship, and service.  Teaching will include course and laboratory development, and delivery via traditional classroom and distance learning formats. Scholarship will be expected in a well-defined area of focus that enhances and compliments the department’s strategic research foci (https://www.rit.edu/cast/mmet/mmet-scholarship-foci) including securing external funding and publications. Service will include contributions to the department, college and university; and maintaining a clear professional development agenda to support the department’s growth.

The position is at the level of tenure-track Assistant Professor. The position will commence in the fall semester of 2015. A Ph.D. or an earned doctorate in a related field is required by the expected date of hire.

THE COLLEGE/ DEPARTMENT: 
The MMET department has 18 full-time faculty, 3 Lecturers and more than 15 adjunct faculty, and approximately 750 students and the department continues to grow. MMET offers three Bachelors of Science and one Master of Science degree programs through its on-campus format. Each program specializes in providing an experiential learning environment to its students through integrated laboratory activities, a wide variety of innovative projects, and research-based learning approaches. To provide advanced preparation for students in their field of study, each student within the department is required to complete two six month blocks of co-operative industrial experience. RIT and the department have a strong career focus and thus an outstanding record of successfully preparing students for industry. REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Ph.D. or an earned doctorate in Mechanical, Manufacturing and Electrical Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field
Minimum 2 years relevant industrial experience
Demonstrated knowledge and ability to teach in any areas related to engineering technology fields of mechanical, manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, bio-medical, mechatronics, energy, and/or discipline based education research.
Demonstrated research in the fields listed above as evidenced by peer reviewed publications.
