The School of
Engineering Education at Purdue University invites applications for the Crowley
Family Professorship in Engineering Education. We seek to attract
exceptional candidates with expertise in engineering education from
pre-kindergarten through college and into engineering practice. We have a new
state-of-the-art research facility that includes the Institute for P-12
Engineering Research and Learning (INSPIRE), research programs focused on college-level
engineering students and the professional development of faculty and engagement
and research with industry on learning and innovation.
The School is a
vibrant, young and growing community of scholars who are envisaging ways of
transforming engineering education based on scholarship and research. The
programs we administer include the first-year engineering program at Purdue
(some 2500 students), bachelor degrees in multidisciplinary engineering and
interdisciplinary engineering studies, and a PhD program in engineering

The
successful candidate will hold a PhD degree in engineering or education or
related discipline and at least one degree in engineering with expertise in
engineering education research and have established themselves as a leader in a
field of research congruent with the mission and goals of the School. They must
be qualified for tenure as a full professor in engineering at Purdue. We seek
individuals with an outstanding record of achievement who can provide
leadership in discovery, learning, and engagement based on a clearly
articulated vision of the current needs and future directions of engineering
education. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to
diversity, collegiality, and interdisciplinarity. They will also have excellent
communication and collaboration skills and provide leadership assisting the
Head in mentoring faculty and the further development of the School, in
refining its strategic direction, and in programmatic support in executing the
strategic plan. They will teach in our undergraduate programs, including
first-year engineering, and our graduate program.
