Northeastern University College of Engineering invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department (www.ece.neu.edu) at Northeastern is a large, successful and growing academic enterprise. The department includes 47 full-time faculty with over $13 million in annual research funding, approximately 220 Ph.D. students, 250 MS students and more than 400 undergraduate students.

At the core of the Northeastern engineering education experience is our top-ranked cooperative education program which contributes significantly to the integrated learning model in use in the College of Engineering. The department is committed to innovative curricular development at all levels. The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department is an active participant in multiple federally-funded research centers including: The Bernard M. Gordon Center for Subsurface Sensing and Imaging Systems, the Center for Awareness and Localization of Explosive-Related Threats, the Center for Ultra-wide-area Resilient Electric Energy Transmission Networks, the Center for High-Rate Nanomanufacturing, the Center for Microwave Magnetic Materials and Integrated Circuits, and the Institute for Information Assurance. There is an ongoing dramatic expansion of the number of faculty across the University, including interdisciplinary cross-college hires, that provides the next Chair of ECE the opportunity to significantly impact the direction and trajectory of an already strong, vibrant department.

Applicants are expected to have demonstrated strategic vision in their research enterprises which should be well-established, well-funded and internationally recognized. Successful candidates will also have demonstrated excellence and have significant experience in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Research, teaching or collaborative experience that spans electrical and computer engineering or closely related fields is beneficial. A doctoral degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or a closely related field is required. Previous experience managing a federally-funded research group or center, or similar significant administrative experience, is desirable.
