Clinical Faculty Position
The Department of Mechanical
Engineering at the University of Idaho invites applications for a full-time,
9-month non-tenure track clinical faculty position at the
Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level. We are seeking candidates that have
practical engineering experience and evidence of demonstrated ability to
develop and teach courses as well as the desire
to be a leader, contributor, and mentor in educational settings throughout our
ME program.
This will be primarily a teaching position with focus on lecture, project based courses, and/or laboratories in, mechanical, and/or thermal systems. The teaching load is expected to be six to eight courses per academic year. There is also an expectation that the candidate remains up-to-date in the profession. This position will include academic advising duties, serving on graduate committees, engage in outreach activities, and may participate in research projects.
Minimum qualifications include: a Ph.D. (preferred) or M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, or closely related field; practical engineering experience in the field; evidence of demonstrated ability to develop and teach courses; and hold a professional engineering license or become a registered professional engineer (PE) within five years. Other qualifications include: university level teaching experience; propensity of scholarship, the potential to be an excellent teacher; an interest in advising and mentoring students; interest and motivation to teach undergraduate and graduate courses; and excellent communication skills.
