Position # 11307 – The Department of Sociology and Women’s and Gender Studies seek to fill a tenure track cross-appointment in the areas of Race and Ethnicity, effective July 1, 2016. The successful candidate must hold a completed Ph.D. in Sociology, Women’s and Gender Studies, or a closely related field, and have a strong research program grounded in the intersectionalities of race, gender and class.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated backgrounds in both Sociology and Women’s and Gender Studies, teaching experience at the University level, and the ability to play an active role in both units with respect to service expectations. Teaching ratio will be 3:2, with three courses being taught in Sociology per year and two courses in WGS. In addition, the successful candidate will have a positive teaching record, a willingness to teach first year courses and upper year courses, including capstone courses in both Sociology (Class, Gender and Racialization) and WGS (Women of the African Diaspora), and be able to supervise both undergraduate and graduate theses and directed studies. This search seeks someone who is well acquainted with critical race theory and able to play a pivotal role in mentoring and motivating students, and organizing events that promote awareness and diversity both across campus and in the wider community.
