MATHEMATICS ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

JOB DETAILS:
The Mathematics Department of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applications for at least one full-time tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning August 23, 2016.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A doctorate in mathematics or mathematics education must be completed with a transcript provided by January 1, 2017. Applicants must have a strong commitment to undergraduate education and present evidence of excellent teaching at the college level. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to or experience with diverse populations. A willingness to collaborate with both students and faculty, and to become involved in university service, is essential. It is expected that the candidate will remain professionally active in the mathematics community. We are primarily interested in hiring outstanding teaching faculty who will be assets to the Department and the University.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary responsibility will be to teach undergraduate mathematics courses. The typical teaching load is twelve credits per semester, with two or three preparations. Applicants will also be expected to participate in scholarly activities, provide academic advising to students, and participate in department, college, and university service.
DEPARTMENT INFORMATION:
The Mathematics Department, in the College of Engineering, Mathematics, and Science, has 24 full-time tenure/tenure track positions, and regularly employs an additional 6-10 academic staff. The department offers undergraduate degrees in mathematics, mathematics education, mathematics with an emphasis in actuarial science, and mathematics with an emphasis in finance. The department also serves programs in engineering, science, technology, business, and education. Class sizes are approximately 30 students.
