NOTES:
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for several tenure-line faculty positions beginning fall 2016.
We are particularly interested in candidates with mechanical engineering disciplinary expertise and demonstrated strong research experience including, but not limited to: bioengineering, micro/nanoengineering, air quality/environment, mechanics and materials, thermo/fluids, energy science/engineering, design and manufacturing, and control and robotics. Among the several positions, we intend to hire one individual in advanced manufacturing. Candidates must clearly indicate their areas of relevant research expertise in their cover letters. In addition, we are also interested in other candidates with strong records of multidisciplinary research potentially leading to disruptive technologies/innovations; each such candidate must indicate in the cover letter a specific disruptive technology related to his or her research and why it is important to future mechanical engineers and society. Candidates are expected to complement and strengthen existing departmental research or develop new high-impact research directions. Candidates are also expected to demonstrate an ability or record of excellence working with and contributing to a climate that attracts and supports students of all races, nationalities and genders. The Department’s vision of successful candidates includes an earned doctorate in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related science or engineering field, a significant commitment to scholarship, the potential to develop an externally funded research program, and ability to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels in mechanical engineering. While the positions are normally at the assistant professor level, candidates with already established record of excellence in research and teaching will be considered for appointment at an appropriately higher academic level.
By January 15, 2016, interested persons should apply through the web site (posting F03068) and submit electronic files (pdf format) containing a cover letter, curriculum vita, two-page statements of research and teaching interests, respectively, and the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of at least three references.
Review of applications will begin as they are received, and will continue until the positions are filled. Additional information regarding the Mechanical Engineering Department search process as well as our research and academic programs can be found at http://www.colorado.edu/mechanical.
