JOB DETAILS:

Due to program growth and retirements, the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering seeks applicants to fill multiple faculty positions in Mechanical Engineering. These are nine-month, full-time tenure-track positions starting on August 23, 2016.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's and doctoral degrees in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field are required; doctoral degree requirements must be completed by August 15, 2016. Applicants with backgrounds in all areas of Mechanical Engineering are encouraged to apply. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Teaching experience, the ability to teach a capstone course, industrial experience, experience with distance education, and professional registration are preferred. Faculty must be willing and able to teach laboratory courses.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary responsibility of this position is undergraduate teaching in a live classroom setting, and/or via delayed streaming video. Faculty are expected to engage in scholarly and professional development activities that enhance teaching effectiveness and professional skills, and/or provide opportunities for students to engage in undergraduate research. In addition, faculty members advise students, participate in university/community service, outreach to the local community, and have the opportunity to develop and teach courses for the online Master of Science in Engineering Program.
DEPARTMENT INFORMATION:
The College of Engineering, Mathematics, and Science (EMS) enrolls approximately 3,400 students in ABET-accredited BS degree programs in Civil, Electrical, Environmental, Industrial, Mechanical and Software Engineering, and Engineering Physics and BS degrees in Mathematics, Broad Field Science, Chemistry, Computer Science, and Sustainable and Renewable Energy Systems. The College of EMS also participates in a statewide Collaborative Engineering Program that allows place-bound undergraduate students to complete their BS degrees in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering with minimal travel. In addition, the College has an online Master of Science in Engineering program, which has been designated as a "Best Buy" in online education. Students may choose a technical emphasis in Engineering Design, Applications in Engineering Management, Control (Electrical) Systems, or Structural/Geotechnical Engineering.

Mechanical Engineering is the largest of UW-Platteville's ABET-accredited programs with an enrollment of approximately 1,100. The main program is housed on the UW-Platteville campus with additional sites at UW-Fox Valley and UW-Washington County. Courses are also taught via streaming video to other 2-year campuses across the state.
