Job Details:
The Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applications for a tenure-track faculty positions at the assistant professor level in Computer Science. This is a nine-month, full-time position to begin August 23, 2016.

Qualifications:
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering or closely related field. Applicants must have a strong commitment to undergraduate education and excellence in teaching. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Must have strong commitment to scholarly and professional activities. Must demonstrate ability to teach lower level, upper level and graduate Computer Science courses, addressed on Course Expertise Assessment form (see To Apply section).

Responsibilities:
The primary duty will be teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in our computer science and software engineering programs. Faculty are expected to advise students and engage in scholarly and professional development activities that enhance teaching effectiveness and professional skills, and/or provide opportunities for students to engage in undergraduate research. In addition, faculty members advise students, participate in university/community service and outreach activities.

College/Department Information:
The College of Engineering, Mathematics, and Science (EMS) enrolls approximately 3,500 students in ABET-accredited BS degree programs in Civil, Electrical, Environmental, Industrial, Mechanical and Software Engineering, and Engineering Physics and BS degrees in Mathematics, Broad Field Science, Chemistry, Computer Science, and Sustainable and Renewable Energy Systems. The College of EMS also participates in a statewide Collaborative Engineering Program that allows place-bound undergraduate students to complete their BS degrees in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering with minimal travel. In addition, the College has an online Master of Engineering program, which has been designated as a “Best Buy” in online education.

The Computer Science and Software Engineering Department has nine faculty and one instructor with an undergraduate enrollment of approximately 350 students. The department has a graduate program offering a degree of Master of Science in Computer Science. Currently, students are required to study abroad for one full semester as part of the graduate degree. Starting Fall 2016 a more traditional on-campus program with no study abroad component will begin. More information about the graduate program can be found on our website.
