POSITION: Tenure-Track Assistant Professor

The Department of Engineering and Science Education (ESED), located within the College of Engineering and Science at Clemson University, seeks applicants, who are passionate about discipline-based education research, for a tenure-track assistant professor position. Preference will be given to applicants who have competencies in mathematics. Other disciplines will be considered if mathematics is an emphasis area. The applicants should be active in discipline-based education research. Teaching and research areas of particular interest are program assessment and quantitative research methods. Applicants should be able to teach STEM education courses at the graduate level (see website for information on current classes) and lower-division mathematics courses.
The Department of Engineering and Science Education is a unique interdisciplinary unit that conducts scholarly research and outreach, and grants PhD degrees and a graduate certificate in engineering and science education. The unique combination of engineering and science education foci in the department facilitates dynamic cross-disciplinary collaborations in research and teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the growth of the department and continuation of its mission by establishing a strong research program (external funding, peer-reviewed scholarly work, national/international collaborations, mentoring of undergraduate/graduate researchers), teach foundational STEM education courses (e.g., education research methods, educational theory), and participate in departmental/college service. The position will be a joint appointment with the Eugene T. Moore School of Education and the Department of Mathematical Sciences with the tenure home in ESED in the College of Engineering and Science.
The position is expected to begin in August 2016. Requirements include a Ph.D. in a STEM related field with strengths in discipline-based education research, BS or MS degrees in mathematics preferred, a demonstrated record of peer-reviewed publication, evidence of or potential for external funding, and demonstrated effectiveness at teaching at the college level.
