THE DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF DAYTON invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track position in organic chemistry, effective August 16, 2012. This is a one-year appointment at the visiting assistant professor level with a possibility for renewal. A Ph.D. in chemistry is required at the time of the appointment. Preference will be given to applicants with postdoctoral experience, a strong potential for excellence in teaching, and the ability to complement department research efforts in organic chemistry and/or chemical education. Primary teaching responsibilities include lecture in the two-semester organic chemistry sequence. Opportunities may exist to teach other advanced or lower level chemistry courses. Collaborative research with undergraduates is expected and institutional support for mentoring research projects will be provided. The Department of Chemistry has fifteen full-time faculty positions and offers BA, BS and MS degrees. The University of Dayton is Ohio's largest private university and the UD Research Institute is one of the nation’s largest non-medical research institutes, providing basic and applied research for industry and government, including the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
