DEPARTMENT OF INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING –
LAMAR UNIVERSITY
Lamar
University, a public, Carnegie Doctoral Research University, is seeking
outstanding scholars to join the faculty at the Assistant Professor level in
the Department of Industrial Engineering beginning Fall, 2015.
Lamar
University (LU), a member of the Texas State University System, has experienced
tremendous growth over the past decade, with enrollment steadily increasing to
more than 15,000. LU has been recognized nationally for its general education
core curriculum, leadership in online education, selection as a member of the
Honor Roll of the Chronicle of Higher Education’s “Great Colleges to
Work For”. The President of Lamar University has recently committed to
significant additional support for the College of Engineering beginning in
2015.
We are seeking
nominees or applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant
Professor level. The successful candidate will have a PhD degree in Industrial
Engineering, or equivalent, from a top tier university and will have
demonstrated the ability to work at the leading edge of his/her research
area.
Candidates must have a demonstrated potential to develop a strong
sponsored program of externally funded research with results published in
refereed journals, proven teaching capabilities (including online,
flipped, etc.) at the undergraduate and graduate levels, excellent
communication skills, ability to work effectively in teams, ability to develop
industrial relations, successfully mentor
masters and doctoral students, and provide service to
the university and profession. The department is focused on serving key
local industries including the chemical/oil industry and the maritime industry.
Ideal candidates should have research and teaching interests in one of the
following areas of Safety, Reliability, Automation, Quality, or Big Data.
Outstanding candidates in other areas will also be considered. Prior
significant research endeavors, teaching, and industrial experience in the
chemical/oil or maritime industries is a plus.
The
Department has research programs in Human Factors and Ergonomics, Safety,
Engineering Education, Logistics, Environmental Science, Design and
Manufacturing, Micro-manufacturing, Engineering Management, and Big Data. The
Center for Transportation/Ports and Waterways is housed in the Department. The
Department participants in the Gulf Coast Hazardous Substance Research Center
and the Texas Air Research Center. The Department is expecting to announce a
new Center in late 2014; The Mariner Safety Center. The Department offers an
ABET accredited undergraduate industrial engineering program as well as masters
and doctoral programs.
