The University of Arizona
The
Systems and Industrial Engineering Department at the University of Arizona
invites applications and nominations for a tenure-track position at all levels
(Assistant, Associate, and Full) with an anticipated start date of August
2015. The department is seeking individuals with a rigorous foundation in
one or more areas related to Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering,
Operations Research, and/or Engineering Management with applications in
Hospital/Medicine Operations. Candidates for senior ranks must have a
distinguished record of published research and demonstrate significant impact
on the profession.
The
Department was founded in 1960 as the first degree-granting department of
Systems Engineering in the world. The Department now houses three integrated
academic programs leading to Accredited BS degrees in Systems Engineering,
Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management, as well as MS degrees in
Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Engineering Management, and a
PhD degree in Systems and Industrial Engineering.
The
University of Arizona, a Research I institution, ranks 18th among
public institutions in annual research expenditures, while the Systems and
Industrial Engineering Department was listed among the top 25 programs by the
US News and World Report. The Department has strong programs in the
fundamentals of systems engineering, operations research and industrial
engineering, including decision systems, optimization, stochastic systems,
quality and reliability, systems engineering and design, modeling and
simulation, and is involved in several interdisciplinary programs. Additional

Department commitment to SIE in healthcare is reflected in its effort to
maintain and grow its healthcare industry and government partnership portfolio
which may expand to include one of the largest non-profit hospital systems in

Systems and Industrial Engineers in the areas of 1) population health and
health outcomes, 2) health disparities, 3) precision health, and 4) healthcare
