The DEPARTMENT OF INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING & OPERATIONS RESEARCH (IEOR) at University of California, Berkeley is seeking candidates for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level with an expected start date of July 1, 2015. We welcome highly qualified applicants with diverse interests and backgrounds. We are particularly interested in candidates with strong theoretical grounding in stochastic modeling and optimization, demonstrated research ability extending the frontiers of IEOR theory, and a desire to apply IEOR tools to important societal problems in innovative ways. In addition to its strong theoretical presence, the IEOR department currently has research initiatives in healthcare, energy, production, finance, logistics, and supply chain systems. We encourage faculty to develop new IEOR applications.
Basic Qualifications: Applicants must, at a minimum, be in the process of completing a doctoral dissertation or the equivalent at the time of application. Additional Qualifications: Applicants must hold a doctorate or equivalent by the start of the position in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Systems Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field. The position involves teaching at all levels from undergraduate courses to advanced graduate seminars, and supervision of graduate students. Candidates should have the potential to develop a strong record of research, teaching, and service, as well as the interest and ability to pursue industrial interaction and research funding from industrial and/or governmental sources.
The department offers BS, MS, MEng, and PhD degrees in IEOR in the College of Engineering and a BA degree in Operations Research and Management Science in the College of Letters and Science. There is opportunity for collaboration within the department, and with faculty in the Haas School of Business, other engineering fields, and other disciplines.
