The Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution (ETID) at Texas A&M University invites applications for a tenure track faculty position at the assistant professor, associate professor, or full professor level starting in fall 2015. The successful applicants will be expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, develop an independent, externally funded research program, participate in all aspects of the department’s mission, and serve the profession. Through effective industrial advisory committees that provide valuable guidance, the department has numerous opportunities for the development of laboratories and sponsorship of applied research activities. By being an integral part of the College of Engineering, there is excellent interaction with faculty in other engineering programs to support large scale college initiatives, as well as access to graduate students to assist in instructional and applied research activities. The Look College is ranked second in research expenditures by the American Society for Engineering Education.

The Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution (ETID) is unique among the Dwight Look College’s 13 departments due to its strong focus on applied research and undergraduate education. Currently, the department has 35 tenured and non-tenured faculty members to support academic program in electronic systems engineering technology (ESET), manufacturing and mechanical engineering technology (MMET), and industrial distribution (IDIS) with an overall enrollment of approximately 1,200 undergraduate and 140 graduate students. The faculty also supports approximately $3 million annually in applied research and professional development efforts spanning areas that include embedded systems, communications, advanced manufacturing, intelligent product design and development, supply chain management, and educational research.

Applicants must have an earned doctorate in an appropriate engineering or closely related field, and a background conducive to the development of an applied and/or educational research program by being able to work closely with industry and/or government agencies. Academic and industrial experiences are highly desired. Preference will be given to candidates with recent and relevant hands-on design and development experience in one or more of the following:  mechatronics, electromechanical systems design, as well as development of products and processes especially in one of the following areas: oil/gas, manufacturing, robotics and automation, healthcare or energy.
