Position Announcements
The Grado Department of
Industrial and Systems Engineering at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia
invites applications for several full-time, tenure-track positions starting in
the 2015-2016 academic year.
Mathematical Optimization
and Operations Research – Appointment at all levels (Posting No. TR0140122)
We particularly seek
individuals with expertise in the theory and methodological
foundations of optimization. Applications
from leaders in any area of optimization are welcome. Appointments at all ranks for positions
starting in the 2015-2016 academic year will be considered. For particularly well-established Full
Professor candidates, an Endowed Professorship may be available. This position requires a PhD degree with at
least one degree in industrial engineering or a closely-related discipline.
Human Factors Engineering
and Ergonomics – Assistant or Associate Professor level (Posting No.
TR0140111) We particularly
seek individuals with expertise in the following occupational areas:
biomechanics, ergonomics, injury prevention, and/or safety. Appointments will be considered at the
Assistant or Associate Professor ranks, for tenure-track or tenured positions starting
in the 2015-2016 academic year. This
position requires a PhD degree with at least one degree in human factors
engineering, ergonomics, industrial engineering, or a closely-related
discipline.
Emerging Frontiers of
Industrial Engineering – Assistant Professor level (Posting No. TR0140105)
We particularly seek
individuals whose research specialties include, but are not limited to,
advanced manufacturing systems and technologies, big-data analytics,
cybersecurity, bio-manufacturing, and renewable energy. The appointment
is at the assistant professor level and begins in the 2015-2016 academic
year. This position requires a PhD
degree with at least one degree in industrial engineering, or a closely-related
discipline.
Applicants for all positions
should have achieved or show potential to develop a strong program of
externally funded research and scholarship.
The successful applicants will also be expected to provide skilled
teaching of foundational and advanced courses at both the undergraduate and
graduate levels.
