Tenure-Track Position in Biology
Description
Earlham College and the Biology Department invite applications for a tenure-track
faculty position in Biology at the Assistant Professor level. The Department
seeks an individual who is first and foremost excited about teaching— in
lecture, seminar classes, laboratory, and research venues — to bright and
motivated undergraduates in a nationally ranked department at a small liberal
arts college. The position begins in August 2016.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching responsibilities
could include contributing to introductory team-taught courses in genetics
and cell biology and upper-level courses in advanced cell physiology,
developmental biology and molecular genetics in nonhuman systems. Opportunities exist for teaching
general education seminar courses for first year students. Support for developing an active undergraduate
research agenda is provided through start-up funds, departmental support,
regular access to the College’s Summer Research funds and Faculty Development
funds, and through the Office of Institutional Advancement for help pursuing
external grants. Other duties will
include advising students and participating in College and Department service
activities.

Experience
and Qualifications
A Ph.D. or equivalent is required; teaching and/or post-doctoral
experience is preferred.
