The Department of Civil Engineering Technology,
Environmental Management and Safety (CETEMS) http://www.rit.edu/cast/cetems in Rochester Institute of Technology’s
(RIT) College of Applied Science and Technology (CAST) is currently seeking
applications from exceptional candidates for a full-time tenure-track faculty
position at either the assistant or associate professor rank to launch the new
Master of Science Construction Management program.
The successful candidate will have the unique and exciting responsibility of working with the department chair and faculty to initiate an on-line Master’s degree program in construction management at RIT. Responsibilities include course development and delivery, program coordination, academic advising for graduate students, scholarship/research in a well-defined area of focus that is in line with the department’s research agenda (including securing external funding), service to the department/college/university, and maintaining a clear professional development agenda to support the department’s growth. An allocation of time will be made to engage in scholarship supporting department-defined areas of focus consistent with a scholarship-intensive profile for the university as a whole (https://www.rit.edu/cast/scholarship-foci-department).
Responsibilities will also include service on
department, college and university committees
and maintenance of professional and technical capabilities and affiliations.
Developing relationships with professional
organizations and businesses for the benefit of student, scholarship and
funding opportunities is expected.

CETEMS has 14 full-time
faculties and more than 20 adjunct faculties. With over 350 students, the
department continues to grow, offering two Bachelor of Science programs through
its on-campus format, two Master of Science programs taught principally in an
on-line format, and a BS/MS program. Each program uses project-based education
to prepare students in their field of study and has a required co-operative

REQUIRED MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS:
Assistant Professor Required
Qualifications:
·
Ph.D. in
construction management or a related field or ABD with completion date prior to
August 1, 2016.
·
No less than two
years relevant U.S. or Canadian industrial experience in construction,
construction operations, or construction management.
·
Evidence of
research and scholarship activities (including refereed publications) in
alignment with the CETEMS’s scholarship foci.
·
Demonstrated
teaching experience.
·
Ability to fully
develop and teach primarily online graduate and some undergraduate courses,
·
Ability to
contribute in meaningful ways to the college’s continuing commitment to
cultural and gender diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
Associate Professor Required Qualifications:
·
Ph.D. in
construction management or a related field.
·
No fewer than 4
years relevant U.S. or Canadian industrial experience in construction,
construction operations, or construction management.
·
Minimum of 4
years of teaching experience at the higher education level in the construction
management discipline.
·
Ability to fully
develop and teach primarily online graduate and undergraduate courses in three
of the following areas:
- Construction leadership
- Construction operations and productivity
- Construction cost analysis and management
- Sustainable design and construction
- Construction delivery methods including Integrated Project Delivery/Lean.
- Construction customer development and retention
- Construction operations and productivity
- Construction cost analysis and management
- Sustainable design and construction
- Construction delivery methods including Integrated Project Delivery/Lean.
- Construction customer development and retention

Demonstrated
strong record of research and scholarship activities (including refereed
publications) in alignment with the CETEMS department’s scholarship foci.

Demonstrated
record of academic program leadership/administration
·
Ability to
contribute in meaningful ways to the college’s
