Biomedical Engineering Department and Systems and Industrial Engineering Department

The University of Arizona invites applications and nominations for a joint tenure-track faculty position between the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) and the Department of Systems and Industrial Engineering (SIE) at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, with an anticipated start date of August 2016. Specific areas of interest include but are not limited to (1) Health Delivery/Outcomes Optimization, (2) Biomedical Informatics, (3) Healthcare Systems Engineering, and/or (4) Human-Computer Interaction.

The successful candidate will be expected to establish a strong research program and to be able to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in both BME and SIE Departments. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to an environment that nurtures collaboration between the BME and SIE Departments and associated disciplines across the College and University.

Established in 2009, the Department of Biomedical Engineering is the newest Engineering department within the College and it reflects a University of Arizona tradition of interdisciplinary research at the intersection of medicine, science, and engineering. The Department of Systems and Industrial Engineering was founded in 1960 as the first degree-granting department of Systems Engineering in the world. The SIE Department now houses three integrated academic programs: Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Engineering Management. The SIE Department has strong programs in the fundamentals of systems engineering, operations research and industrial engineering, and is involved in several interdisciplinary programs.
