Department Chair of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering
The successful candidate will be expected to support NDSU’s land-grant mission of teaching, research, and service, provide direction and leadership within the department, effectively meet the department’s administrative needs, engage in high-quality research, and be committed to excellence in teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels. The responsibilities of the Chair include leading strategic planning efforts, hiring, supervising, mentoring, and evaluating faculty and staff, managing the budget, and representing the department’s interests to the Dean, upper administration, industry, and the public. The Chair will have the opportunity to enhance all facets of the department through transformational leadership.

Minimum Qualifications
- A completed Ph. D. in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related discipline
- A distinguished professional record of teaching, research, and service that merits tenure and appointment at the rank of full professor
- Evidence of leadership ability
- Evidence of commitment to quality teaching and student learning
- Evidence of a strong research program as demonstrated by scholarly work
- Ability to communicate, both oral and verbal, effectively and collegially with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body
- Evidence of strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with others in a creative, collaborative, and productive manner
- Commitment to work with and foster diverse groups, including women and underrepresented minorities in engineering
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with the ABET accreditation process
- A strong record of previous administrative experience
- Familiarity with land-grant research institutions
- Demonstrated ability to communicate, consult, and work with industry constituencies
- Experience in innovative curriculum development, implementation, and assessment
- Experience with research commercialization and intellectual property issues
- Registered Professional Engineer
- An undergraduate degree in an engineering discipline
