The Department of Mathematics at the University of Dayton seeks applicants with expertise and skills in geometry for a tenure track position at the assistant professor level starting August 16, 2016. Responsibilities include teaching three courses per semester, two of which will be service courses populated primarily by non-majors. Position supports the research agenda of the Mathematics Department by engaging in scholarly research in an area of mathematics associated with geometry. We prefer that the applicant’s research area falls under algebraic geometry (MSC 14), geometry (MSC 51), or convex and discrete geometry (MSC 52).

Required qualifications: Applicants must complete all requirements for a Ph.D. in Mathematics by July 1, 2016. Applicants must demonstrate potential to become an effective teacher of a wide range of mathematics courses, have active and ongoing research in some area of mathematics associated with geometry, demonstrate the potential to produce high quality research, and articulate an interest in teaching and advising students from diverse backgrounds.
