Assistant/Associate Professor of Industrial and
Manufacturing Engineering
The
Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering (IME) Department invites applications
for two full-time, Assistant/Associate Professor (Tenure Track) positions with
an anticipated starting date of August 16, 2016. These positions will be 40
percent research, 40 percent teaching, and 20 percent service. Responsibilities
will include supporting NDSU’s land-grant mission of research, teaching, and
service. Specifically, the successful candidate will be expected to establish a
program of externally funded research in Industrial Engineering and produce an
excellent record of scholarly publication; teach undergraduate and graduate
courses; supervise MS and PhD theses; and provide service to the university and
its units, to the state and regional community, as well as to the appropriate
professional organizations. Candidates with strength in quality and reliability
engineering, healthcare analytics, biomedical engineering, supply chain and
logistics, and advanced manufacturing, are especially encouraged to apply,
although all areas of industrial engineering will be considered. The candidates
should exhibit strong skill sets and research interest in one or more of the
following areas—reliability modeling of complex (energy) systems, robust
optimization, stochastic optimization, prognostic health management,
statistical and probabilistic modeling, big data integration (data fusion),
integer programming and discrete optimization, bioinformatics, entropy
optimization, material characterization, image processing, and physiological
signal processing.
The department has nine faculty, four staff, over 200
undergraduate and graduate students. The department has strong relationships
with local companies, such as: John Deere, Bobcat/Doosan, Sanford Health, the
local Veteran’s Administration, Microsoft, Case New Holland as well as many
others.
