The Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering (IMSE) at Iowa State University invites applications for a faculty position as an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in the area of manufacturing. Candidates will be expected to develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses, establish and sustain strong research programs in their area of expertise, act as adviser to graduate students, and provide service to the department, college, and university.
The successful applicant will be participating in all aspects of the department’s mission, including developing a strong externally funded research program, teaching and supervising students at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and participating in service to the university.
Required Education and Experience:
An earned Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering or a closely related field by the employment start date.
Manufacturing expertise must be closely related to advanced manufacturing technologies and processes, digital manufacturing, advanced sensing and control, or advanced materials manufacturing.
Candidates at the level of Assistant Professor must demonstrate ability or potential for funded research and for excellence in teaching in the area of manufacturing.
Candidates at the level of Associate or Full Professor, in addition to the above, must demonstrate ability for funded research and for excellence in teaching in the area of manufacturing, commensurate with qualifications for the rank at Iowa State University.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Practical experience in manufacturing

The IMSE department has invested over $1M in manufacturing labs in the last 5 years. Manufacturing researchers in IMSE are actively participating in three institutes established by National Network for Manufacturing Innovation. The College of Engineering comprises 8 departments, with 251 faculty members and annual research expenditures exceeding $83 million.
