Two Tenure Track Faculty Positions
Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering

The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISYE) at Northern Illinois University invites applications for two anticipated tenure-track full-time faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level beginning August 16, 2016. Successful applicants are expected to hold a doctoral degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering or related field with teaching interests and research experiences in Quality, Reliability, Human Factors, Decision Analysis, Data Analytics, Sustainability, and Engineering Management. Applicants whose research and teaching interests in application areas such as health systems, manufacturing systems, warehousing, logistics, and related areas are preferred. Applicants are expected to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses, establish a strong externally funded research program and actively serve the department, college, university, and community.

The department consists of 7 full time faculty members, 153 undergraduate and 143 graduate students. The department offers a ABET accredited B.S. (with emphasis in Manufacturing Systems, Health Systems, and Engineering Management; a minor in Sustainable Engineering), a M.S. in ISYE, and a MS in ISYE with specialization in Engineering Management. Laboratories for manufacturing, ergonomics, reliability, and logistics are well established in the department. Strong ties with industries in the Northern Illinois region have helped ISYE faculty to attract externally funded research projects on a regular basis. NIU has over 21,000 students and is located approximately 65 miles west of Chicago. NIU’s vision is to be the premier student-centered, research-focused public university in the Midwest contributing to the advancement of knowledge for the benefit of the people of the region, the state, the nation, and the world.
