DEPARTMENT CHAIR
The Department of Civil Engineering at Valparaiso University, located in Valparaiso, Indiana, invites applications for the position of Department Chair with a faculty appointment at a rank of associate or full professor, commensurate with background and qualifications. This position’s duties include both administration and teaching with a start date in July, 2016. Applicants with expertise in the fields of structural and/or materials engineering are preferred.
In addition to chair responsibilities, the successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses, developing a research program that incorporates undergraduate students, and
providing service to the University and profession. Candidates should have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and have the ability to communicate effectively with students and colleagues. Candidates shall have the legal authority to work in the USA, shall have completed a Ph.D. in civil engineering or a closely related discipline, and will have or will obtain their professional engineering
license. Preference will be given to candidates with a BSCE from an ABET-accredited institution.
Located an hour from Chicago in northwest Indiana, Valparaiso University (www.valpo.edu) is a comprehensive university with about 4,500 students.
