ELECTRICAL AND COMPUTER ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT


The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department in the College of Engineering at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) invites applications for one tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2014.  We are interested in applicants from all areas of electrical engineering, such as (but not limited to) circuits, controls, electrical power, high frequency (RF and microwave), instrumentation, microelectronics, and network security.

The Position:  Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, advising students, conducting research, and providing services to the department, college and university.  Candidates must be able to effectively teach theory as well as to develop innovative laboratory and project experiences.  The successful candidate will establish an applied research program that complements their teaching and involves both undergraduate and graduate students.  Applicants whose work incorporates a global perspective and a commitment to diversity in higher education are particularly encouraged to apply.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering or related area from an accredited university by June 2014
  • Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching
  • Professional engineering work experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to work with diverse students and community populations

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level, particularly in laboratory or project courses
  • Demonstrated ability to develop teaching laboratory facilities and curriculum
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and conduct an applied research program
  • Experience with contracts and grants for applied research projects, preferably as a PI or co-PI
  • Demonstrated ability to establish industrial collaborations
  • Demonstrated ability to be responsive to the educational equity goals of the university and its increasing ethnic diversity and international character
