Tenure Track Assistant Professor in
Mathematics
The Department of Mathematics at the
University of Dayton invites applications for a tenure track position at the
assistant professor level starting August 16, 2014. The person in this
position will assist in the delivery of mathematics courses for education
majors as well as support the research agenda of the Department, so applicants
must have an interest in teaching mathematics classes for education majors.
Applicants must complete all requirements for a PhD in mathematics by August
16, 2014. Applicants must have active and ongoing research in a more
traditional area of mathematics and a strong commitment to continuing such
research. Applicants must have the potential to become an effective
teacher. Preference will be given to those doing research in some area of
algebra. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining a research
agenda, teaching a broad range of mathematics courses with a focus on mathematics
courses for education majors, and advising and mentoring undergraduate
students. The applicant will also be expected to work with students from
diverse backgrounds, so applicants must demonstrate an interest in teaching and
advising students from diverse backgrounds.

recommendation, a statement of research agenda, a statement of teaching
philosophy and an unofficial graduate school transcript. Teaching
abilities must be addressed in at least one letter and research abilities must
be addressed in at least one letter. Your statement of teaching
philosophy must include ways you believe that you can contribute to our
mathematics education program. The review process begins December 9,
2013. All materials must be
received by January 8, 2014.
