Rochester Institute of
Technology’s Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering invites
applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of assistant or
associate professor, depending upon experience and qualifications. Position
#790BR is targeted towards applicants specializing in areas of advanced
manufacturing. Position #791BR is targeted towards applicants who will
complement and support the department’s thrust areas of health systems
engineering, sustainable engineering, and advanced manufacturing. Faculty
responsibilities include teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate
levels, student advising (including Ph.D. students), conducting sponsored
research, and providing service to the university community.

THE COLLEGE/ DEPARTMENT:
The Department of Industrial
and Systems Engineering is experiencing significant growth with several
exciting new initiatives under development. The Brinkman Advanced Machine Tools
Laboratory is a model for industry-academia partnerships that provide faculty
and students with access to state-of-the-art advanced manufacturing
capabilities. The Toyota Production Systems Lab mimics a “real world” assembly
production facility and supports a wide variety of activities pertaining to
lean manufacturing. The department has access to a UNIX-based cloud system that
includes a large memory computer, parallel computing clusters, distributed
computing resources, and high performance storage servers all connected via 10
Gigabit Ethernet. RIT Research Computing provides off-campus supercomputing
resources for RIT researchers and collaborators, and to state-of-the-art
optimization and data-mining software. As investments in infrastructure have
grown, the department’s research expenditures have increased nearly 100% over
the past five years. The department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees
in Industrial and Systems Engineering, with additional degree options in
Sustainable Engineering and Engineering Management. Faculty are also actively
engaged in the development of a new interdisciplinary engineering Ph.D. program
with focus areas in Energy, Transportation, Health Care, and Communications.

The Kate Gleason College of
