NOTES:

The Department of Electrical, Computer, and Energy Engineering (ECEE) at the University of Colorado Boulder seeks outstanding candidates for two bioengineering faculty positions beginning August 2014. The openings are targeted at the assistant professor level, but experienced candidates with outstanding credentials may be considered for Associate or Full Professor.

Bioengineering is an important new frontier in electrical engineering as the engineering techniques and approaches are becoming increasingly important in modern biology and medicine. The inherently diverse nature of electrical engineering offers a wide array of opportunities for bioengineering. With this recognition, we seek candidates broadly in bioengineering including, but not limited to, biomaterials, molecular/cellular engineering, bio and biomed devices, biophotonics, bioimaging, bioinformatics and neural engineering. Candidates should also have demonstrated expertise in at least one of the core areas of electrical engineering, which include optics, electromagnetics, solid-state/nano devices, control, digital signal processing, communication, power electronics.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in electrical engineering, bioengineering or related disciplines; they must have the ability to develop an independent research program, and enthusiasm for working with undergraduate and graduate students.

The department has 2 University Distinguished professors, 14 professors, 13 associate professors, and 5 assistant professors. The ECEE program consists of about 350 undergraduate and 300 graduate students, and had $17.3 million in research grants in 2012. Faculty honors include 14 IEEE Fellows, 2 members of the US National Academy of Engineering, and 10 NSF Career Award recipients.

Complete applications submitted by December 2, 2013 will receive full consideration, though applications received after this date will continue to be reviewed until the position is filled. Applications must include a letter of application specifying the area of specialization, complete curriculum vitae, statement of research and teaching interests, and names and contact information of three references. Applications must be submitted on-line at http://www.jobsatcu.com/ using position number 706570 for bioengineering. Additional information is available at that site as well as at http://ecee.colorado.edu.

The University of Colorado Boulder is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to building a diverse workforce.
